Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, we have compiled a short list of some frequently asked questions. For more information, please .

1. Can all Stains be removed?

That is the million dollar question and the difference between a satisfied and a dissatisfied customer. Of course there are permanent stains that can never be removed and should be addressed by your carpet cleaning professional once he looks at it. Pet urine stains, any type of artificially colored stains and many others are nearly impossible to remove but can be lightened. Stain kits are available to remove these stains but once again there are factors involved as far as longevity of the stain, volume and carpet color as well.

2. How much better can a professional clean my carpets than doing it myself?

Ahhh.... yes, the do it yourselfer. Equipment and what type of chemical being used is a huge factor when cleaning carpets. There is nothing on the consumer level that can give you the type of cleaning power you need. Then there is the experience factor that only someone in the business can provide to give you the quality of cleaning you need.

3. How long will my carpet take to dry?

We use air movers in the first room cleaned & can have that area pretty much dry by the time we leave. The rest in most cases it will be dry in 2-3 hours. This depends on the humidity, temperature of the home, the density of the fiber and how soiled the carpet is. To speed drying run the air conditioning, use fans, or if it's cold turn on the heat.

4. Can I walk on the carpet after cleaning?

Yes. Use clean white socks and use extreme caution when walking from damp carpet to any hard surface. Hard surface floors will be slippery. Try to limit traffic until completely dry.

10. Will Ameri-Clean remove all my stains?

Let me start by defining the difference between a spot and a stain: A Spot- is any foreign material (soil, liquid, etc.) that is removable by standard cleaning methods. (The material is on or around the carpet fiber). A Stain- is foreign material (soil, liquid, etc.) on carpet that is not usually removable by standard cleaning methods. (The material has penetrated “soaked into’” the fiber and has changed the color or damaged the fiber itself). Some stains may be very difficult or impossible to remove.

13. My Carpet is really old, should I replace it?

With the cost of replacing carpet being as expensive as it is today, it is always best to try having the carpet professionally cleaned first. It is less costly and may make a world of difference.

14. Can you help eliminate my carpet's pet urine odor?

Pet odor, while very common, can be a difficult cleaning problem.Your pet's mess can actually permeate the backing of your carpet and be absorbed by the carpet padding. Once the padding has reached its maximum absorption the urine may damage the hard floor underneath the carpet padding. If this is the case, we have a problem of many levels.

In addition to the unpleasant smell, pet urine can (and often does) promote the growth and reproduction of invasive bacteria. The repercussions of this bacterial growth is a worsening smell and the discoloration of the actual fibers of the carpet. The ONLY way to solve this dilemma is to completely neutralize the urine on any affected level of the carpeting. If you're lucky and the urine has only affected the face of the carpet, a regular carpet cleaning will alleviate the problem. If the pet urine has penetrated lower, additional methods will be required. In the event of a deeper and longer penetration and soak of the urine, carpet padding may need to be replaced. If the urine has gotten to the sub floor, it's potentially feasible that there will be no way to completely remove the smell.
